Donations of goods help Sandhills/Moore Coalition provide food,
clothing, and other services to families in need.
Nonperishable food items:
Sandhills/Moore Coalition welcomes any non-perishable food item which is not past its sell by or expiration date. Food donations may be delivered to the Client Services campus at 1500 West Indiana Avenue in Southern Pines. Client Services is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 am until 4:00 pm.
Planning a food drive to benefit the Coalition? Below is a list of suggested non-perishable food items.
Suggested non-perishable food items:
- Canned Beef Stew
- Peanut Butter
- Spaghetti Sauce
- Macaroni and Cheese
- Instant Mashed Potatoes
- Non-refrigerated Juice
- Canned Fruit
- Canned Beans
- 1-2 lb. package rice
Low sodium, no salt added, 100% fruit juice, fruit packed in juice or water and whole wheat options are encouraged in order to provide healthier alternatives for those we serve!
Each year the Coalition provides clothing to almost 5,000 people. Although the majority of items are received through donations at The Coalition Resale Shops, the following items are always needed.
- Children’s socks & underwear
- Women’s underwear
- Queen, full & king blankets
- Diapers, sizes 4,5,&6
In addition to food and clothing,
These items include:
- Toilet paper
- Laundry detergent
- Bar soap
- Dish detergent
Empty Bowls is an international grassroots movement to help raise hunger awareness started in 1990 by the Imagine/RENDER group. Events feature a simple meal of soup as well as commemorative bowls to help attendees remember the empty bowls of those who go hungry each day.
The Coalition’s Empty Bowls event will be held on Sunday, March 1,

Coalition Golf Classic
The Coalition golf classic is held each July at Pinewild Country Club. The largest fundraising event annually, the golf classic helps ensure the Coalition continues to provide emergency services to Moore County families in need.
The 2019 Coalition Golf Classic in honor of Don Hamilton will be held at Pinewild Country Club on Monday, July 22, 2019. Team or single entry fees
